Focus on IoT at Airports During BICSI Fall Conference
BICSI, the association advancing the information and communications technology (ICT) community, brought its 2016 BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition to a close this afternoon. The five-day conference attracted attendees from all over the world to gain industry knowledge, take in the latest ICT technologies and network with colleagues.
Thursday’s Closing General Session opened with two educational presentations. First, Daniel Pohnert of RS&H in Jacksonville, Florida, delivered “IoT at Airports is Really Taking Off!” Then, Nathan Benton and Elise Vadnais of CommScope in Shakope, Minnesota, spoke on “Millennials Driving Network Evolutions.” These presentations rounded out a three-day program of more than 25 technical sessions.
BICSI Cares, the charitable arm of BICSI that supports children’s charities and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, then made a donation to the Texas-based charity Without Regrets. The organization provides memorable family experiences for terminally ill parents with minor children.
“One thing that really stands out about BICSI Cares is the steadfast dedication our committee members have displayed over the last 20 years,” said BICSI President Brian Ensign, RCDD, NTS, OSP, RTPM, CSI. “These hardworking volunteers are absolutely committed to collecting donations from generous conference attendees to give to wonderful causes. BICSI Cares gives every single dollar to very deserving charities that make a difference in the lives of children and their families. We look forward to continuing the effort far into the future.”
Following the BICSI Cares presentation, attendees heard from Closing Keynote speaker and team-building expert Mark Eaton. During the presentation, he shared his experience of how he went from a 7’4″ 21-year-old mechanic who couldn’t play basketball to having a 12-year career as an NBA All-Star with the Utah Jazz.
The feedback on the conference from both attendees and exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive. “I like to attend BICSI conferences to continue to enhance my knowledge of advancing technologies,” said Richard Caualuzzi, RCDD, DCDC, NTS, OSP, RTPM, of ZAC Telecom Consulting, Inc., in Middletown, New Jersey. “BICSI brings together professionals with real-world experience to address today’s advancing technology.”
Luis Sifuentes of Bronze Level Conference Sponsor TRS RenTelco in Dallas, Texas, said, “We always come to BICSI’s conferences, and it’s always well attended. The conference attendees are quality people from the industries that we cater to.”
During President Ensign’s closing remarks, he announced that the 2017 BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition will be held January 22-26 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida. Details can be found at bicsi.org/winter.
